Botox for Hyperhidrosis

Hyperhidrosis is a medical condition in which an individual sweats an excessive amount. People with this condition may excessively sweat through their clothes. If prescription antiperspirants and alternatives fail, this new treatment may be valid option!

How it works

Hyperhidrosis happens when the nerves responsible for activating your sweat glands are overactive. An individual only sweats when to regulate body temperature to a correct homeostasis point. This is when an individual gets too hot; they sweat to bring down their temperature. But, this condition causes an individual to produce more sweat even when they are in a right temperature. Botox injections are used to essentially paralyze those overactive nerves stimulating a sweat response. When the nerves cannot signal the sweat glands, an individual does not produce sweat from those glands.

How to prepare

There is minimal amount of work needed to do to prepare for this procedure. In order to prepare we ask you to not shave your armpits two to three days prior to your scheduled procedure and to stop taking blood thinners in order to prevent bruising.

After the procedure

A patient can continue with their daily activities normally. You will see results two to seven days in the treated areas after the procedure. Usually we reschedule to see a patient two weeks after the procedure to have a check up and touch up any potentially missed areas.

We provide compassionate care for individuals that may be uncomfortable with their under arm sweating. Botox has been proven to be highly effective in treating underarm sweating. To schedule an appointment or consultation please call California Sports & Rehab at 310-652-6060.
